- AutoSave Feature: As a backend engineer, preserved unsaved user edits on Tableau’s online distributed system. Implemented controller logic in Java, session management logic in C++, and UI in JavaScript and TypeScript. Integrated microservices using REST API and gRPC. Autosaved 1 million user sessions daily.- Emergency Checkpoint Feature: The feature is to preserve user work during unexpected system shutdown. Implemented state machine in C++ based on strategy design pattern. Used Redis as on-premise storage and S3 (blob)+Postgres (metadata) as distributed system storage. Saved on average 800K user sessions daily. - Third-party Library Update Automation: Created automated GitLab pipelines to update third-party libraries (Zlib, OpenSSL, Curl, and Xerces). Created dependency charts by hosting meetings across impacted teams, coordinating complex company-wide upgrade processes, explaining priorities, and figuring out a desired approach. Implemented automation using GitLab CD/CI pipelines, GitLab Runner, batch files, and shell scripts. Provided the tool to 11 teams, and improved the update timeline from 24 sprints to 1 sprint across all teams.- Familiar with both modularized (Git) and large monolith codebases using various building tools.
