I am trained to deliver six week community nutrition programmes with the aim of;- supporting people who want to enhance their cooking skills and who are interested in healthier eating, particularly where cost is a consideration.

Leeds, United Kingdom

I helped deliver 'Fit Together'​ (childhood obesity prevention) programmes in a children's centre and primary school, before recruiting participating parents to a study designed by myself. The study aimed to explore attitudes of programme participants, towards the community based healthy eating and lifestyle project, delivered in a less affluent area of Leeds. I concluded that Fit Together was an acceptable community based nutrition project which brought benefits to, and influenced health behaviours among, families in a less affluent area of Leeds. However, an extended programme and follow-up support was identified as being needed.

During this placement I was involved in fundraising and the preparation and delivery of health promotion workshops in schools, homeless shelters and businesses.

St Lukes Hospital Armagh

I worked as part of the promoting wellbeing team to teach cookery skills and deliver health messages as part of;- Regenerating Environments and Communities' Health (REACH) and- Cook it! (community based nutrition education programme).
