About Cherry Rudge

As a pioneering and campaigning Professional Organiser and Hoarding Practitioner with ADHD whose father had hoarding behaviours, I'm proud to be training the next generation of professional practitioners to help them understand that it’s not about the stuff, it’s about the people.My passion is to raise awareness of the health and safety issues associated with clutter, disorganisation and hoarding, and the challenges faced by people with Executive Functioning difficulties. It's why I created the Hoarding Ice-Breaker Form - so that people whose health has been adversely affected by these problems but are too embarrassed to speak about it, can get help by downloading the form, filling it in and using it to start a conversation with a medical professional - www.hoardingicebreakerform.org In Jo Cooke’s insightful book “Understanding Hoarding”, I explained about the emotional, physical, psychological and practical impact it can have on families, and created a diagram showing how the ADHD brain works in the context of clutter, disorganisation and hoarding. I’m proud to be a Trustee of the Fastminds ADHD Support Group in Kingston-upon-Thames; a Time To Change Champion; a Dementia Friend; a member of The National Fire Chief Council's Association’s Hoarding Working Group (we organised the first ever UK Hoarding Awareness Week in 2014, which was launched at the Houses of Parliament in London); a Member of Surrey's Multi-Agency Hoarding Taskforce, and to have held senior roles on the Board of The Association of Professional Declutterers & Organisers (APDO).In my dim and distant past I've been (in reverse order) a Global IT Project Manager (Air Products plc); Marketer (sales promotion agency); PA Secretary to various Boards of Directors (incl.     I first became involved with Fastminds in about 2015, when I wanted to find out if the support group was suitable to refer my clients to - and of course it most definitely was (and is), and the rest is history!Having myself been diagnosed with ADHD in November 2019, I'm now even more passionate about supporting people with neurodiverse conditions (because they often have a cocktail of them), and campaigning for an increase in awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by people with Executive Dysfunction (which reduces their ability to plan, organise, make decisions, manage time, multi-task, emotionally regulate and multi-task).Which is why the Hoarding Ice-Breaker Form that I devised slots in quite nicely - ta da!So watch out GPs, medical professionals, CCGs, and all public servants who come into contact with neurodiverse people - I'm on a mission to educate you and make change happen!
