Since 2018, I have been involved with raising mealworms. My experience includes being CEO of Jord Producers, a woman-owned Agribusiness, farming mealworms for the wild bird and exotic pet industries. In 2021 after Jord combined synergies with Ynsect, my role was Head of Hatchery/Sales Manager for Ynsect Nebraska. It is exciting to be back co-owning our mealworm business, Kirkos LLC. Throughout the years, being in charge of a small company means I have worn multiple hats. Every year we have continued to see growth in production and in sales. My top priority is customer relations/development and getting a high-quality product sent out the door every week. Quality and consistency is my goal. Nothing pleases me more than when a customer raves about the fresh quality of our mealworms and refers to them as "beautiful worms."Promoting and educating others about the benefits of our mealworms frass is another priority. Mealworm frass is probably one of the best kept secrets as a natural fertilizer. As one person told me, "With a plant, you have to not just pay attention to what is happening above the ground, you have to look at what is happening with the roots within the soil."I am truly looking forward to where this next chapter leads me with Kirkos! Life being surrounded by mealworms just keeps getting better!
