About Chester Delph
I am an education and development professional with strong event management, workshop planning, and networking skills to boost my work. My strengths lie in relationship building, which is truly my passion. Making a difference in a person’s life is what motivates and drives me. I am a Career Coach in the Ulmer Career Center in the College of Business at UofL. After having made impacts on the lives of students in the classroom as a high school teacher, I began planning recruitment events in the Office of Admissions. These events ranged in sizes of 40-1400 participants with many elements, moving pieces, and collaborations with external partners. I am now helping craft career development skills for students. My passion lies in planning and organizing events and experiences to foster growth. I strive to make an impact and provide students with the tools to succeed in life during and after their time in college. I have many passions beyond the workplace that includes fitness, sports, and special time with my family. My personal education endeavors continue as I pursue a Ph.D. in College Student Personnel. Through this degree and my current and previous roles, I have developed strong networking skills, coaching and mentoring skills, proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and resume writing.
Listed skills include Leadership, Social Media, Public Speaking, Social Networking, and 12 others.

Career Coach
As a CCSP issued Career Coach, I worked 1-on-1 with students almost daily. In those meetings, we would stay surface level or dive deep into their career development. Whether those conversations lead to discussions on resume building, interviewing skills, career exploration, drafting cover letters, or a bit of soul searching, I always felt fulfilled after chatting with a student. I also am very passionate about the work I do in the classroom as a BUS 201 instructor of 40 students per semester. In this required career development course, we expand on many of the topics we would in a coaching session, but on a bigger scale. We also expand topics into building professional brands, developing LinkedIn profiles, and hosting an employer panel. Another major role is the oversight of the recruitment and implementation of the Business Undergraduate Mentoring Program (BUMP). BUMP gives roughly 25 undergraduate students each academic year an opportunity to match with a partnering employer to serve as a mentor for them.Key contributions: Redesigned the BUMP to optimize the interest intake and application process by using Microsoft Forms.Initiated a partnership with Athletic Department to partner in the planning and execution of Athlete Ally's Summit at the University of Louisville.Certified Career Services Provider through NCDA.
Program Coordinator, Office Of Admissions Visits And Events
It was an honor to contribute to the recruitment of undergraduate and transfer students to the University of Louisville for over a year. As a part of the Visits and Events team, I was responsible for being the lead on 2 events, one of which I developed from scratch, that welcomed between 45-100 visiting guests to campus. The event that I built was a STEM+H Day in which students interested in STEM and health related majors were invited to visit campus for a day full of guest speakers from research and STEM departments, a resource face, and planned class shadowing opportunities. In addition to these events. I served as the fill-in lead for our largest recruitment event of the year, Cardinal Preview Day. This event welcomed nearly 1,400 guests that featured activities, information sessions, resource fairs, and dining for a full 8-hour day. I served as the number two planner for our two other large events, similar in scale. In addition to planning events, I supervised 5-6 student workers at the front desk of the office. I scheduled, mentored, and oversaw daily operations for them, including going through the hiring process two different times to bring new students on board. In the role, I was expected to operated within SLATE, Outlook, much of the Microsoft Suite, and collaborate with any and all student services that our campus had to offer, ensuring all students were represented and provided the needed information when making a college decision where they could feel included.Key Contributions:Led planning efforts for events that brought between 40 and 1,400 attendees to campus.Presented 5-7 times per month to prospective students and their families.Serve as the lead staff member during student worker trainings, facilitating discussions each day and seeing out the planning and execution exclusively of one day.Improved tracking of group visits by optimizing sharable data platforms, utilizing Google Sheets

Student Success Intern
Tracked student engagement for a first-generation student support program. Coached students on academic probation on how to build study habits, identify areas of growth, and find ways to enrich their academic experience. Collaborated with my team to execute weekly events by helping set up and form partnerships with campus staff. Key Contribution:Assisted in the planning of a 4-day pilot bridge program for 11 low-income first-generation students.
Teacher
Taught high school freshman for over two years at Doss High School in JCPS. I co-designed and instructed a Career Choices and Digital Literacy course for 120 students each semester. These courses were designed to provide them with career enhancement skills that would set them up for success throughout and beyond high school. Students learned basic fundamentals of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in Digital Literacy while we worked on resume building and career navigation in Career Options, exploring what each of the Career Academies offered at Doss High School. To do this effectively, I differentiated instruction to accommodate for all students needs and learning styles. It was of highest importance that I effectively build rapport and classroom management expectations to ensure student success. Key Contributions:Co-created all material for Career Choices course to help students pick the best career academy for them.Instructed a total of 140+ students per semester.
