About Chetan Chavan

Solving problems involving multidisplinary concepts is my passion and I am very enthusiastic when it comes to building something pragmatic out of it! It matters a lot to me when it comes to designing and engineering a product right from its inception in my mind to its final on time delivery providing value to both the company and satisfaction to the customer. I am all ready to work in challenging areas which make the best use of my talents and in turn enlighten me further as I work along!Currently, I am open to oppurtunities that demand me to learn and experiment on newer technologies in the areas of Micro sensor and actuator design, modelling of systems, biomedical engineering, robotics and the like.I have six years of research experience in the design of embedded control systems for high speed trainsets like the EMUs, Metro's etc. My work mostly involved developing electronic hardware and writing software for traction, braking control. Apart from this, my work also involved developing the passenger comfort systems for coaches, braking electronics for "Vandhe Bharat". I enjoyed working on these projects and also training the new joiners in my organization. As a person, I like experimenting in life. Be it science, food, books, adventure! I look forward to develop newer connections and meet people from diverse backgrounds. I like talking on anything that revolves around engineering, wildlife, places and planning trips! Currently, I am actively looking for full time job roles in the fields of Biomedical Engineering, Sensor and Actuator design, Soft Robotics, Analog Design.

  • Indian Institute Of Science (Iisc)
    Teaching Assistant
Indian Institute Of Science (Iisc) Aug 2024 - Present
    Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Teaching Assistant for full semester course on "Control System Design". As a TA, my role involves helping students understand concepts in CSD like Bode Plot based Controller/Compensator Design, Root Locus Based Design, Stability Criteria, Digital Control, Bode Integrals. The role not only involves in giving one on one attention to students if needed but also assisting the professor in proctoring exams as well as correcting the assignments involving computation and simulations.
  • Chang Gung University
    Research Intern
Chang Gung University May 2024 - Aug 2024
    Taoyuan City, Taiwan
I worked on Optimization of Control System for characterization of LAPS (Light Addressable Potentiometric Sensor). This research is under Prof. Chia Ming Yang in "2D Nano Optoelectronic Biomedical Sensor Lab".
  • Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd (Msdpl)
    Senior Research And Development Engineer
Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd (Msdpl) Apr 2020 - Jun 2022
  • Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd (Msdpl)
    Control Electronics & Systems - R&D Engineer
Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd (Msdpl) Jan 2017 - Mar 2020
    Cherlapally, Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
I worked in a team of 6 people dedicated to designing control system level schematics (E3) for high speed trains like AC-EMU's, MEMU's, Metro's and the similar; writing code for the various computers (TCMS - Train Control and Management System) which interface with sub-systems like Auxiliary Converters, Line and Traction control, Passenger Information System etc., along with finally testing the development on a real time simulator. -> I have worked on rigorously testing the AC-EMU which are the local trains running in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata (MMTS) . This project helped me in understanding the system right from its hardware design to the software lines of code! Solving field failure issues for this train sets was something which used to happen periodically.-> My first project dealt with designing and coding the TCMS for Onboard MEMU (Mainline Eletrical Multiple Unit) wherein concepts involved with controlling the passenger comfort loads (lights, fans, ventilation units) were coded! Along with it, developing and testing code to control braking of "Knorr-Bremse" braking system was implemented successfully.-> The second project involved control of chain of compressors and braking system in Underslung MEMU (popularly know as "Little Sister of Train 18 - Vandhe Bharat"). I was instrumental in developing necessary software interfaces to control the same along with also managing the passenger loads. -> Developed "Brake Electronics Control System" which was an indigenous product for braking and wheelslide control in high speed trains. In a team of 2 two, we were effective in developing necessary hardware to drive loads as per SIL-3 standards and write software while implementing and experimenting popular relevant algorithms to control slide. This project is currently in the testing phase.
  • Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd (Msdpl)
    R&D Engineer (Trainee)
Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd (Msdpl) Jul 2016 - Dec 2016
    Cherlapally, Hyderabad, Telangana, India
As a trainee, I extensively studied developing embedded systems around power PC microcontroller namely 9s12 and 5554. Following this, I studied using the TI and PIC microcontrollers for embedded applications.-> Successfully demonstrated a project based on GPS clock synchronization. This involved a Master-Slave architecture to develop a systems of wireless network of clocks which would communicate using Wi-Fi to synchornize time with GPS and display it on LCD. This was implemented in the organization.
  • Tata Consultancy Services
    Intern
Tata Consultancy Services Dec 2015 - Mar 2016
    Hyderabad Area, India
Worked on Machine-to-Machine communication using a lightweight protocol, MQTT (Message Queue Telemetry Transport) in "Internet of Things" domain. I was able to demonstrate a prototype for home automation purpose.
