- Conceptualised and delivered data science products (i.e., dashboards, machine learning models, web applications) to improve the efficiency of IRAS’ business operations, mainly in the area of tax compliance and customer service (e.g., identifying tax entities/transactions with a high likelihood of non-compliance, understanding the drivers for calls/emails and addressing them to reduce contacts).- Regularly assessed the roadmap for data science and AI within the organization, evaluated new methodologies, tools, systems, and use cases (e.g., new cloud computing services).- Worked with the project manager to drive the procurement, delivery, and maintenance of tools and systems, including seeking budget approvals, preparing tender requirements, evaluating tender proposals, and managing project deliveries and system maintenance.- Acted as an account manager and ensured that the analytics needs of my internal customers are met.Key outcomes/achievements include:- Prevented tax leakages (in the range of several million dollars) as suspicious tax returns/claims are identified more accurately through better use of data and machine learning.- Improved tax filing compliance as late filers are pre-emptively identified and reminded using machine learning.- Standardised the methodology and logic for measuring baseline non-compliance across various tax types.- Completed the procurement of several software and maintenance services within very short timeframes, with a total procurement value of a few million dollars.- Co-led the procurement of a streaming analytics system to embed machine learning models into IRAS’ operational system. The project was delivered within the original timeline and budget.- Recognised as outstanding backroom staff for services extended to internal customers.
