I have volunteered in areas of gardening, education and animal care. From November 2015 to June 2016 I was apart of Big Brothers Big Sisters. During this time I had to work one on one with a Second Grade student to improve her reading and math skills. To do this I had to create a learning plan around their interests and also use various games that would be both educational and fun for the student. Next I volunteered at The Little Cats' Rescue from September 2017 to May 2018 where I developed communication skills and team working skills. During this time I learning basic Veterinary Technician skills from the caregiver as I had to assist her with giving the cats medication and other care that included checking on certain cats and cleaning the cat rooms. I worked with 2-4 people in a group and we had to work together to make sure the shelter was clean and also assist the caregiver with adoption opportunities. In 2016 when I began to go there for the club Paws for a Claws we held a fundraiser and raised over 300 dollars for the caregiver by hosting bake sale and car wash while she set up an area to get the adoptable cats adopted. From November 2017 to May 2018 I volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity where I worked with about 10 people to clear fields, plant seeds and weed areas. The most recent activity I did was volunteering with an Art Teacher at Richey Elementary School from November 2018 to May 2018. I acted as a Teacher Aide to Mrs. Krug by assisting students with their art projects by monitoring if they were doing them right as well as answering their questions. This helped me with communication skills as well as organizational skills as i also had to assist the teacher Mrs. Krug after school with her lesson plans. This is what gave me insight into teaching and caused me to want to pursue a career in education. I am currently a student at St. Petersburg College at the Tarpon Springs campus and plan to graduate with a Barchelor's Degree in Education in 2022.
