About Chhavi Mathur

As a graduate research assistant at The University of British Columbia, I am part of a SSHRC-funded project that investigates the role of Beautiful British Columbia magazine in shaping the environmental narratives, landscape aesthetic, and culture of the Okanagan region. I am pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Sustainability Studies, building on my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Ashoka University. My core interests and skills are in interdisciplinary research, writing, and communications in the field of sustainability. I have also gained valuable experience as an illustrator for The Real Elephant Collective's 'Coexistence Umbrella' project, which aimed to raise awareness about conservation issues as well as for Hoopoe on a Hill's 'Birds of Kodaikanal' memory game. I am passionate about exploring the intersections of environment, society, culture, and art.
