"Science in Service of Cities: The Poverty Lab partners with civic and community leaders to identify, rigorously evaluate, and help scale programs and policies that reduce poverty and create paths to economic opportunity."In the Poverty Lab, I manage the postsecondary education research portfolio, which focuses on identifying impactful supports that help young people from underserved communities achieve positive social mobility through postsecondary education. Using randomized controlled trials, predictive analytics, and quasi-experimental designs, we study comprehensive and low-touch programs, and leverage large amounts of data to produce actionable information for education stakeholders and decision-makers.

In this role, I was given increasing responsibility and led operational and engagement teams that supported the monthly Board of Education meetings. I also conducted research on education policies and practices implemented by Chicago Public Schools and worked with several departments in Chicago Public Schools' Central Office to review and revise districtwide policies.

I stepped out of my role at Chicago Public Schools and prepared for the Law School Admission Test, scoring in the 93rd percentile on first test administration. I also led weekly writing workshops for college students and conducted informational interviews to better understand the intersection of law and policy in education.
