Marc Chirico is the Executive Chef and Owner of Crescendo Cuisine, an organization that aims to be an agent of change in food insecurity and a proponent of the benefits of eating ethically sourced, delicious, nutrient dense food. Located in Austin, TX, Marc hosts pop-up food events and fundraisers to build relationships between local farmers and the communities around them. In due time, he hopes to build enough momentum and community support to purchase a food truck and bring his vision to a larger audience.Born in New Jersey, Marc grew up in an Italian family where food was at the center of every holiday and togetherness was greatly valued. Living in every state from New Mexico to Connecticut at an early age, Marc’s family settled in Florida for twelve years before he attended Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Music Business in Nashville, TN. After moving to Austin, TX in 2013, he began working on a food truck to supplement income between contracted live sound gigs at concerts. What started as a side job quickly turned into a full time career; as his desire to become a better cook grew, Marc received an Associate’s Degree from Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts and spent a few years working in hotels, catering, fine dining, festivals, and craft services until finally becoming Executive Pastry Chef at Sterling Events Austin. His food is focused on the locally sourced ingredients in the rich terroir of Texas with an emphasis on seasonality, environmental sustainability, and cultural significance.
