About Chitrang Patel

I am a Research Software Developer at University Of Toronto / McGill University in the Physics department working on the CHIME/FRB project. I specialize in real-time data analysis of big data sets (1.5 PB/day) in Radio Astronomy. I love solving challenging big-data analysis problems.My work involves developing and maintaining real-time software pipelines to search for Fast Radio Bursts, pulsars and rotating radio transients. As a radio astronomer, I have gained a wide range of technical skills:- Development and Deployment of software in an Agile and Scrum test-driven environment.- Data Science (heavy use of Machine and Deep Learning tools using Scikit-Learn and Keras), Statistical Analysis, Multiprocessing, Network Computing and Testing in python.- Designing, developing and maintaining time series based, SQL and NoSQL database servers- Designing and developing RestAPI using Sanic, GraphQL, Flask and Django.- Making frontend web applications and other web-based visualization tools using VueJS, D3, Bokeh and Plotly- GitHub, Docker, LinuxI have also gained the following interpersonal skills:- Team Leader- Critical Thinking- Strong Presentation- Time Management
