Two things have always been true about me: I am a lifelong learner and a lifelong teacher. Both learning and teaching give me so much joy and keep me excited to explore and share so many different areas of this great wide world. As both a learner and a teacher Montessori education called to me so strongly. The scientific basis of the style and the heavy emphasis on observation and creative problem solving hooked me and allowed me to grow so much as an educator. Observing children and what sparks their curiosity and then creating ways for the curiosity to grow has been a joy to experience. The collaborative way that Montessori teachers work together has also given me amazing mentors and great experience in leadership roles like spear heading a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee at my building. I have also been able to build strong and productive relationships with board members, administration, and parents to get the best outcomes for my students as possible. As I have grown, I have discovered just how drawn to the scientific process and creative problem solving I really am. This discovery lead me right into data analytics. I have been able to flex the lifelong learn portion of myself through Merit America’s accelerated program in Data Analytics. Through Coursera I have completed the Google Data Analysis Professional Certificate as well as the RStudio Data Analytics Toolbox. I have loved data collection, data cleaning, and learning to make data driven decisions. I been thrilled to learn, practice, and network with my colleagues at Merit America, as they are dedicated, intelligent and help a group of future leaders in the industry. As part of this process, I have gotten to put both my love and experience in education as well as my new technical skills to use while doing a data project on local district data for a wonderful Non-Profit. Marrying data and education together get me so excited about my future and the impact I can make in my next role!
