The whole work involves aberration analysis of the anamorphic system, tolerance analyzing, and optimization process. In this project, I design the whole system from the ground in Zemax that can achieve the project requirement and simulate the results, thus to help the people on the Lab-side to build up the real system. I use Zemax software to give a complete aberration composition analysis, then calculated various different approaches for an optical system to inscribe fiber Bragg gratings with anamorphic systems for applications in material processing. I developed a brand new Matlab tools to simulate the behavior of the system in a physical framework that will not only achieve optimization process that conventional method cannot do, but also can evaluate the system performance in a more direct way. G. Forbes Invented the brand new asphere and Freeform representation based on orthogonal polynomi- als. The project is mainly for mathematical modeling and implementing the new Freeform surface representation in MATLAB. I implemented the Matlab program that is able to come up with the whole orthogonal basis using Gram-Schmidt processing and achieve all goals mentioned above.
