I am currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Fabric and Apparel Science. I have done my PhD from the Department of Textile Technology, IIT, Delhi in the area of “Degumming of Silk” and have numerous national and international publications in peer reviewed journals and over 25 years of research and teaching experience.My academic interests include Textile Processing technologies (dyeing, printing, finishing), Fibre science, Fabric Construction, Statistics, Research methods, Quality assurance assessment and sustainability in textile and apparel industry. The focus of her research has been on using waste plant parts/sources for both dye extraction as well as extraction of fibres and development of functional and bioactive textiles to find suitable applications in the health and hygiene industry. She has also worked extensively in the area of sustainable textile processing, use of natural dyes and functional finishing.I have supervised more than 28 post graduate research dissertations and presented my research work at numerous national and international conferences and won numerous awards too.I am the Alternate member of the Hospital Equipment Sectional Committee (MHD 12) at Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) since 2014 and is also a life member of other professional bodies such as TAI, AIWEFA, Society of Dyers and Colourists and HSAI. I am also on the editorial board of National Journal of Environment and Scientific Research as well as International Journal of Materials Science and Applications.
