My wife and I are writing the next chapter by taking our four years of RVing experience on the road for twelve months to travel to our country's national parks. Glacier, Zion, Arches, and Bryce Canyon will be some of the first on our list to visit. This trip is our geography interview to find our next home. We are currently eying The Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, and New Mexico. We are, however, open to any town that grabs our interests and our hearts. The Playhouse's mission is to partner with volunteers to create and deliver extraordinary theatre and education programs for communities in Central Iowa through high-quality entertainment with special emphasis on issues of social significance; programs which allow for the development of individual self-expression and self-esteem; and programs which identify and encourage individuals to pursue professional theatre development. LSI is a social ministry organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is one of the largest human services organizations in the state, serving tens of thousands of Iowans and employing more than 1,200 staff. LSI focuses its resources on at-risk children and families, refugees, people with disabilities, adoption and foster care, as well as counseling and therapy. Under my direction as the vice president of advancement and church relations, the department successfully: • Raised more than $1.1 million for the annual fund• Restructured the staff giving campaign to include more than 90 volunteers and steadied the employee participation after previous declines• Hosted a state-wide 150th anniversary celebration raising more than $60,000 and introduced a new method of donor support In addition to fundraising responsibilities, I led a team of four officers, three support staff and two grant writers, conducted monthly coaching and annual reviews, and administered a departmental expense budget of more than $700,000.

Guided by Christian compassion, WesleyLife is a non-profit organization of more than 1,200 employees dedicated to supporting the independence, health and well-being of older adults wherever they call home throughout Iowa. This $75-million organization continues its 70 year-old promise of never denying services to its residents or clients that is supported through philanthropy. The development program plays a key role in capital campaigns for new buildings and expansion as well as creating new and innovative programs. As the leader of the Philanthropy Department, I led WesleyLife to reach significant fundraising milestones during my tenure:• Secured more than $4.2 million, a year-over-year growth of 63%• Surpassed the annual fundraising goal for 2012 by more than 31%• Implemented a new employee campaign that increased participation by 137% • Raised more than $4 million for a multi-million dollar capital campaign in Pella, Iowa • Reduced the cost to raise a dollar to its lowest point in more than eight years Beyond fundraising goals, my responsibilities included managing two directors of philanthropy and a support staff position, employee development, annual reviews, recruitment and retention.

The Iowa State University Foundation is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to securing and stewarding private gifts and grants that benefit Iowa State University. The organization employs more than 100 staff, including 30 fundraisers who secure in excess of $100 million dollars in gifts and pledges annually. My area of responsibility centered on the Regional Fundraising Team by effectively managing a portfolio of prospects with cross-functional interests and degrees from the Colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Business, Design, Engineering, Human Sciences, Liberal Arts & Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine. Donor interests also included athletics, university libraries, Reiman Gardens, Department for Institutional Research and Corporate and Foundation Relations.During my tenure at the foundation, I effectively:• Secured nearly $7.2 million for facility, program, student, and faculty projects during “Campaign Iowa State”.• Served as the lead development liaison to the constituency units of the College of Engineering and the College of Veterinary Medicine.• Led an emerging geographic team program and established priorities for individual and small group meetings.• Managed leadership giving prospects with a $1 million capacity and above while supporting gifts of $25,000 and above• Educated donors on the multiple gift vehicles of outright annual giving, stock and real estate transfers, charitable trusts, bequests, IRA transfers, donor-advised funds, insurance policies and corporate matching gifts.

The Nebraska Alumni Association promotes the achievements and aspirations of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln by engaging its students, alumni and friends. A department of the university, the non-profit organization represents more than 200,000 alumni and friends of the university with its programs. During my six years at the Nebraska Alumni Association, I efficiently:• Implemented a new online community to keep alumni connected to the university as well as each other• Strengthened a nationally-recognized alumni chapter program• Designed and supervised programs with the Office of Admissions by utilizing alumni in recruiting potential students• Created a new dues-based student membership model and increased student membership by more than 100%• Integrated a new university payment option through student fee processing which increased membership and event participation• Implemented legislative advocacy programs and events according to university guidelines• Served as staff liaison to the national board ad-hoc committees
