I am a Chartered Development Planner and hold a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering. I have over 20 years of experience within the field of highways, transportation and infrastructure planning.During this time I have operated principally within multi-disciplinary teams, specialising in cost effective and innovative technical solutions associated with varied forms of development including residential, employment, retail, logistics, distribution, leisure and educational uses.I am a commercially driven planning professional with significant experience of business development, who believes that providing the highest standard of client care is essential to success and organic growth.I am currently responsible for the technical direction of Development Planning operations across the Midlands and North of England. I oversee the project management of multi-disciplinary commissions within these regions and act as Team Principal to the engineers who operate within the Transport Planning unit of the business.I provide technical advice to private/public sector clients across the UK and am a specialist in the disciplines of traffic impact assessment, mobility and sustainable travel. Throughout my career to date, I have primarily concerned myself with the delivery of development proposals through the planning system (from initial feasibility appraisals and site access advice, to key stakeholder engagement and the preparation of technical highways submissions).I have a wide range of experience in the preparation of transport assessments and travel plans, in addition to the development of environmental impact assessments, master-planning proposals, access advice, detailed junction modelling, traffic forecasting and sustainability appraisals. I also have a solid working knowledge of infrastructure delivery plans, connectivity studies, business case development and funding applications. I liaise closely with our infrastructure team on a daily basis, which has allowed me to develop an in-depth working knowledge of the detailed design process, including the principles of Manual for Streets, DMRB and various Street Design Guides. I am also familiar with the progression of stopping-up orders and public right of way diversions.I am well versed in negotiating with Highway Authorities in relation to the terms of S106, S38 and S278 agreements on behalf of private sector clients, in order to protect the viability of scheme proposals and bring value to commissions through my commercially sensitive approach to project delivery.
