While completing my studies at Auburn University, I gained two years of experience as a journalist for WEGL 91.1 FM where I developed multimedia reporting skills by attending sporting events across the SEC, writing articles for the WEGL website., and co-hosting a podcast focused on Premier League soccer. I also spent three summers providing children with unforgettable summer camp experiences as a camp counselor at Pine Cove. In my third summer, I served as the Activities Director, where I trained and oversaw other counselors who worked in smaller teams at activity classes. After graduating in 2021 with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Journalism, I moved to Southeast Alaska to work as the sole news writer at the Petersburg Pilot newspaper. There, I produced over 700 stories on local government, healthcare, education, sports, Indigenous communities, business, crime, wildlife, commercial and sport fisheries, festivals, and other subjects. While in Petersburg, I also developed a new reporter manual and house stylebook to help journalists acclimate to life in Alaska, learn the expectations of the position, access various writing resources, and write in a consistent style for years to come. Looking forward, I hope to utilize my experience across both digital media and computer software in a constructive environment.
