Whilst working at ASA I undertook a broad range of projects across various sectors. I began my involvement as the project architect on a number of small projects and played a key role in developing concept designs. I later became involved with the management of much larger projects on site, including the completion of a 180 bed student accommodation development. In addition I was the most experienced BIM user in the practice and therefore had a lot of input into it's implementation into the office. I began working at ASA as a temp between stage 5 and stage 6 of my postgraduate studies (BArch (Hons)) at Newcastle University. Upon completing these studies I returned to ASA and began working towards my PG Cert. qualification (for 'Architect' certification) . Between my undergraduate and postgraduate studies I chose to take an additional year out to add to my professional work experience and pursue one of my interests: travelling. I spent a month in Mexico and then travelled to Melbourne, Australia where I found a position at LAB. This was a very exciting and contemporary place to work, thriving in experimentation. I was employed at a level above my experience because of a demand for my expertise in hotel design following my experience at _Space. Following my undergraduate studies at Newcastle University I began working at _Space to gain valued professional experience alongside my academic studies. Whilst at _Space I was involved with a number of large scale commercial projects including The Stephenson Quarter, a large mixed-use development in an ex-industrial area of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Within this project I was heavily involved with the design of a 200 bed hotel and associated conference facilities up to planning stage. This period of experience at Watson Bertram and Fell was undertaken between year 1 and year 2 of my undergraduate studies at Newcastle University and was a useful introduction to working in the construction industry. I undertook a lot of work with conservation which helped me appreciate the historic context within which we practice and encouraged within me a keen attention to detail. A lot of my time here was spent on site with the associate surveyor of the practice, which gave me a good practical knowledge of the construction industry. http://www.wbf-bath.co.uk/
