I joined Clive Owen LLP in 1996 as a qualified Chartered Accountant. I was promoted to Partner in 2006 and now manage the department responsible for “Not for Profit” sector including educational establishments and charities. This includes more than sixty schools and a number of other educational establishments. In total the department acts for over fifty charities with a turnover in excess of £5 million, with the largest having a turnover of over £35 million. I am a trustee and a Chair of Finance at a Multi-Academy Trust. In my spare time I'm an author of the Kreston Academies Bench marking surveys (9 years from 2013 to 2021) and have been a guest speaker for Schools NorthEast, ISBA and the NASBM.

I was elected as a parent governor in 2011. Following consultation the school converted to an Academy in 2013. I was one of the founding Members. I am now a Trustee and Chair the Finance Committee for the Trust.

North East England

I was involved with the North East England Chamber of Commerce for over 15 years, initially with the Darlington Committee before joining the Tees Valley Committee, where I was NEECC Tees Valley Committee Chair for 2 years. I have since represented the Tees Valley Committee on the regional council. Further was a non-executive Director for the main board and sat on the audit committee. (2009-2011, 2013-2018)

Business & Enterprise North East Limited was setup to bring the four North East Business Link contracts (Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham and Tees Valley) together into one entity. Following the successful amalgamation of these other funded business advice/support organisations were also incorporated and together with new contracts wins this took the total work turnover to in-excess of £40m per year and the work force to over 400. During my time as an non-executive Director I sat on full board and I was also Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.
