I've been lucky enough to work with clever folks to make things that people need and use every day. Those things are usually for heavy industrial settings, where getting even the smallest detail wrong can have profound consequences.Along the way, I've bounced through electronics design, embedded programming, explosive atmosphere equipment development and certification, and safety analysis.I've formed the view that the industrial design crowd had it right from the start, and will gladly wave the flag for human-centred design at any opportunity. Ultimately, things need to be needed if they're going to have an impact in the world. This has been the anchor for all of the commercial viability analyses I've built, alongside the good old cashflow models and NPV calculations that form the backbone of a solid business case.I continue to be excited by seeing new ideas turn into built products, and witnessing the folks around me thrive on seeing their work go out into the world.
