I am a highly experienced Head of Finance with a history of improving business performance through sound financial governance, strategic analysis and planning, reporting and business intelligence development, and process and systems improvements. I have over two decades of experience in senior financial roles with a range of organisations and industries. I understand that a CFO needs to provide great financial management, but also a commercial expert, and be a trustworthy and honest advisor for the business leadership.I look deep into the strategic activities and position of the business and then work with the executive team and/or owners to find ways to leverage the best opportunities and find solutions to the key problems. My past achievements include helping to turn around a business that was on the verge of failure and getting it back to profitability so that the owners could exit comfortably. Through strategic commercial analysis I have also helped several businesses seize market opportunities that have led to significant long term growth, and also helped several to avoid incurring long term losses on business segments that were under performing.I also have the skills and experience to give businesses the reporting and business intelligence systems they need to run their businesses properly. This involves not just providing reports, but developing the internal systems of the business so that the data that is being produced is relevant, timely and accurate. I have designed and implemented business intelligence systems from businesses as diverse as British Telecom to small wholesalers with a view to giving management the vital information they need to lead their businesses.I believe that no matter how good your processes are, there is always room for improvement. I analyse business processes and develop improved solutions leveraging technology where appropriate, but also leveraging the innovative thinking of the team who always seem to know great ways to make their jobs easier. These processes can cover anything from sales calls, to production jobs, to finance transactions. I have changed processes in businesses numerous times to the point that entire roles are no longer necessary, enabling the business to reassign resources to more value adding work. Job satisfaction for me, is seeing a business achieve it's potential.
