Chris is the founder and driving force behind the prestigious Travel Photographer of the Year awards, now in their 19th year. A photographer himself, Chris runs the awards sponsorship and sponsor relationships, the exhibition programme - including curating the exhibitions - and liaison with photographers around the world. He also runs and teaches on the educational element of the awards with workshops, lectures and photo tours, along with other leading photographers.As a photographer, a fascination with natural light and a passion with nature, landscape and travel underpin his photography. His images have a striking simplicity and graphic quality.Since turning professional in 1992, Chris has photographed landscapes, people, architecture, gardens, travel destinations and wildlife around the world. This ability and desire to capture such a diverse range of subjects and explore different types of photography is rare amongst photographers, but demonstrate his understanding of light. Chris finds shooting different subjects and styles both visually stimulating and creatively challenging.Most of his photographic work is commissioned for specific advertising and editorial projects or for stock libraries. He has shot over 40 travel and coffee table books and has undertaken commissions for a wide range of major multinational companies. His images have been widely published in newspapers, magazines and books. Chris has also written articles about photography for specialist photographic, travel and lifestyle magazines.Chris has a passion for teaching photography and helping photographers to realise their creative abilities. He runs the Photo Iconic series of photography courses and workshops in the UK and overseas, covering everything you need to know about photography to enjoy it as a hobby, as a profession or to get started as a new career.In 2003, Chris founded the now prestigious international photography awards - Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY). These awards have to date attract entries from 148 countries and provide a popular showcase for both amateur and professional photographers to achieve expsoure for their work.
