Reporting to the Principal Geomatics in the Mine Modernisation Team, this global role is responsible for the Surveying Health of Discipline across the business portfolio of assets including, Steelmaking Coal, Platinum, Iron Ore, Copper, Nickel, Diamonds and Crop Nutrients.Key responsibilities include application of technical expertise to codify best practice, coordinate development and implementation of leading technologies that supports leading practice in mine surveying and risk mitigation within applicable regional legislation.Key Achievements:• Successfully implemented underground SLAM LiDAR data collection for 3D compliance to design analysis at all underground operations within the Steelmaking Coal business unit.• Project managed integration of 3D point cloud data supporting remote longwall operation to improve operational efficiency through auto gateroad entry, beam stage loader steering and positional control.• Facilitated quarterly surveying Community of Practice meetings to capture and share learnings, identify improvement opportunities and spatial value drivers for the Steelmaking Coal business unit. • Successfully developed and implemented a Group Technical Standard for Surveying to manage fatal risk with respect to unplanned intersections of hazards by mining at all operations globally.• Lead 2nd Line Assurance audits against the Surveying Standard to ensure fatal risk compliance at 6 operations in South Africa and Australia.• Effectively codified 5 Surveying Best Practice Guidelines in collaboration with Drill & Blast, Geotechnical, Mine Planning and Autonomous Drilling teams and piloted these at two operations within Australia.

Reporting to Technical Services Manager, the Surveying Superintendent was a Statutory appointed role with five direct report responsible for driving delivery of the mine’s performance targets through effective leadership of the surveying team to deliver best practice surveying services and technical support.Key responsibilities included compilation of the annual Statutory Mine Workings plan and monthly Statutory Plans required under the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation, compliance to Operational Management Systems, coordination of survey tasks within the mining value chain, contract negotiations and management, budgeting, review of technical procedures and evaluation of compliance, collaboration with mining disciplines and mentoring of junior team members. Key Achievements:• Successfully implemented high resolution laser scanning for deformation monitoring of underground roadways.• Selected as a top 10 finalist at the Mining Safety and Health Innovation Awards for use of laser scanners for deformation monitoring.• Effectively developed and implemented a real-time, autonomous subsidence monitoring systems to measure the extent and affect of surface subsidence and the potential impact on critical, third-party infrastructure.• Presented findings and recommendations from the deformation monitoring and real time subsidence monitoring at the Australian Institute of Mine Surveyors annual conference in 2019.
