Software Engineer Ii (Product Discovery Squad)
As a Software Engineer on the Product Discovery Squad, I am responsible for working with business leaders to create, prioritize, and execute new strategic initiatives. I regularly meet with product and engineering leadership to understand what problems the organization is facing, then collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to determine the best strategy to solve these problems. This role requires me to understand every facet of each initiative including technical requirements, revenue projections, analytics, and impacts to other departments. This is a deeply collaborative role, and I regularly negotiate and advocate for my team's work to ensure that each stakeholder across product, engineering, and management is willing to support the plan. I have found this role very rewarding, as it allows me to work across disciplines to build coalitions that work together to solve large business problems and smaller departmental issues. In addition to these duties, I continue to develop and deploy code as needed. If I am not writing the code myself for a new project, I am working closely with an engineering team to ensure the projects meet all technical requirements. This allows me to mentor and guide junior engineers so that work is completed efficiently and effectively. I also regularly monitor our applications to ensure our deployment pipeline is functioning and our servers are healthy.
