Chris is an oftcumden. Born in Cheshire (coming for ‘oft’!) he came to Yorkshire to study Marketing at the University of Huddersfield, fell in love with the county and has happily lived here for over thirty years. Chris has worked for Calderdale Council since 2006, when the then-Tourism & Rural Development Team was first created, which soon morphed into Visit Calderdale. He is the longest serving member of the team and over the last 17 years has established solid and trusted working relationships with local tourism businesses, event organisers, colleagues in different departments across Calderdale Council, partners in other destination management organisations and local authorities across Yorkshire. He has a wealth of local Calderdale knowledge and experience to share with you. In his spare time, Chris enjoys creating new memories with his family (and is Chief Wooden Railway Engineer for his four-year old daughter Libby) raising money for local charities, enjoying Yorkshire’s parks and countryside, reading, going to the theatre and cinema and especially a good (or properly cheesy) horror film.
