I am an Olivier Award-winning theatre-maker, producer and playwright with an extensive track record of internationally-acclaimed new plays. I was recently named in The Stage 25, a highly selective list of theatre-makers shaping the sector's future.“Remarkable unearthers of new talent.” Evening StandardAs Papatango's joint Chief Executive, I have led its transformation from an unfunded start-up to one of the UK’s most acclaimed new writing companies. Recent productions have won Olivier, Critics' Circle, OffWestEnd, Alfred Fagon and The Times Breakthrough Awards, been nominated for a further 20 OffWestEnd Awards and WhatsonStage and The Stage Awards, and transferred to or been remounted in over 30 countries. My practice revolves around new writing, organisational development, and education and participation. I have mounted world premieres at West End and off-West End venues and on national tours, as well as transferring work internationally. I have also produced TV and radio premieres and pioneered digital commissions, online streaming and live audio productions. The free creative learning programmes I have designed reach over 3000 people a year. Away from my main role as a strategic leader and creative producer, I also write. My first play, an adaptation of Carnegie Medal-winner Robert Westall's The Watch House, ran for a three-week sell-out run over Christmas 2023 in my native Tyneside, then toured nationally to 12 venues in 2024, selling out performances at venues as diverse as Leeds Playhouse, Lighthouse (Poole), Marine Theatre (Lyme Regis) and Alnwick Playhouse, among others. It is published by Methuen Drama. I am also the co-author of the bestselling Being A Playwright: A Career Guide for Writers, published by Nick Hern Books.
