I have been a consummate salesperson and entrepreneur since I was old enough to know what money was. My first "job" (other than weeding my mom's flower beds) was washing cars for $7.50. The year was 1978 and I learned very quickly that a Sharpie, cardboard, hose, bucket, soap, sponge, and hard work with a smile could keep my pockets stuffed with all the money I needed to feed the habit of my real passion - fishing. By the time I was in my teens, I owned a landscaping a snow removal company in Eagle River, AK. In 1992 I founded Legacy Labradors and from 1995 to 2012 I raised and trained wonderful dogs for members of Oregon and Washington Duck Clubs. In the later years I began training for Field Trials as well. Parenting took over in my mid 20's, the boat was dry-docked, and I learned everything I could about the car business. Salesman of the year came and went regularly and in 1998, needing much more schedule flexibility, I got into telecom.Sprint was a great platform to grow and hone my skills and it did not take long before I was selling products and services over the phone that previously were "field sales" only. Sprint University of Excellence has few classes that I did not take, and I was the only inside salesperson in company history to make Presidents club (not once but three consecutive years). Two of those years I was an IC reseller running my own office from my home. 2001 saw some major changes in family structure. I founded the Insurance America Group in 2002, providing insurance services to self-employed individuals and families. It was during this time that I also founded and directed Legacy Horse Rescue. The next 15 years were a bit of a blur as the kids grew up and little changed. I developed 40 highly successful agent to follow my business model, many of whom are still in the industry today. Legacy Horse Rescue became the pre-eminent name in Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation in Oregon and Washington. LHR was instrumental in developing an ASPCA presence here in Oregon as well as writing and lobbying for specific legislation around the protection and care for horses and livestock in general. LHR was closed in November of 2013 due to the loss of donated lands. We found homes for 1,183 neglected and injured horses during our run. Today, with the kids grown, my wife Pearl and I enjoy a bit of a slower pace. I rescue pit bulls, spend my weekends either fishing or road tripping and have found Marketing to be a true passion. My experiences are quite diverse, and I would love to help anyone grow their business.
