Like a lot of kids, growing up the two things I loved to do most were playing sports and building with Legos.Sports taught me what it takes to win (often against bigger & stronger competitors) and lose gracefully, but most importantly, gave me respect and love for the bond of a team fueled by individual talents working together and producing wonderful results. On the other side, Legos gave me a creative outlet, teaching me to push norm while tapping into my passion for understanding how things work, or not, brick by brick. I enjoyed hours of making the most awesome things from thousands of different sized, shaped and colored bricks. Many of times resulting in something space related, which is why I totally relate to Benny the Spaceman in the Lego Movie (a great film by the way). The more I built and the more I tried my expertise grew and methodically castles, racetracks, microscopes and robots emerged.Looking back, I see how both have shaped my approach to work. Through sports, I appreciate daily the value people add to a good team structure. I’m reminded to inspire creativity, seek and leverage opportunities and recognize solid efforts, all to keep the team moving toward completion of its goals, ever mindful and respectful of worthy opposition capable of taking opportunities from us.As for Legos, picking through a pile of bricks, determining which ones to use and the value each contributed to bring my visions to life. The same is true when it comes to building an impactful plan. Assessing all the opportunities available, working through pros and cons of ideas, and choosing opportunities that together, best tell the story in a special and memorable way.With that said, my profile would not be complete without a special thank you to my grandparents, Marion and Howard Wagner, and my mom, who never failed to cheer me from the stands or praise my spaceships. Everyone should be blessed with such champions.
