About Chris Hertle
Chemical Engineer with more than 40 years industry experience who consults and provides specialist advice in the fields of water, wastewater and solid waste management for municipalities and a broad range of industry sectors from meat processing, food & beverage, pulp and paper, mineral processing through to oil & gas. Having written more than 50 technical papers in the water and wastewater field, he is regularly asked to speak at national and international water forums / conferences.Experience encompasses process design for municipal and industrial water, wastewater and solid waste management, with expert knowledge of innovative treatment schemes based on resource recovery from wastes. This includes the use of membrane systems, anaerobic systems, thermal systems (eg gasification and pyrolysis). His work has included troubleshooting, investigations, pilot plants, concept and detailed process design, specification, tendering, installation, commissioning and operations.Having long been associated with academia from a student through to mentor and collaborative researcher, he has been an Adjunct Professor to The University of Queensland in the Advanced Water Management Centre for over 8 years, which allows him to actively give back to his industry through the development of new technology and mentoring / supporting young engineers who are seeking careers within the water industry.
