  • Terma Group
    Manufacturing Engineer
    Terma Group May 2015 - Jan 2017
    Grenaa
My initial role at Terma A/S was updating F35 Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Documentation and Work Instructions to reflect recent Process Modifications and Engineering revisions.During this time Terma A/S had been awarded a Boeing work offset package, my role then developed into a position where it has been my responsibility to Interpret and implement the Boeing Process and Manufacturing Documentation to enable Terma A/S to achieve full Boeing certification, for both Facilities and Manufacturing Systems, so that they can manufacture and deliver Carbon Fibre Composite Sandwich and Monolithic components successfully to the Boeing BAC5317 and BAC5317-4 standards. This also includes Implementation of the training requirements and developing an Operator Training course, workshop and skills matrix, so that the Operators can carry out Carbon Fibre Component Manufacturing, Inspection and Self-certification.I have planned and completed all of my activities in-line with the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).Based on this a Qualification Audit to present the Manufacturing Technique of a Carbon Fibre Sandwich Processor Panel has concluded and samples of the Part successfully mechanically tested allowing Boeing to approve the qualification process and for Terma A/S to achieve a fully certified status for manufacturing and delivery of BAC 777 Parts.I am currently developing the Inspection process to deliver an automated measurement package that will be carried out following the Part Machining Process at the Numerical Controlled Milling Centre. Utilising Blum Form Control software and Blum T62 radio probe CAD to Part inspection will be carried out, including a self-generated Inspection Report and SPC data generation and analysis.

It is my responsibility to provide Engineering Expertise, at a senior level, to procurement commodity Multi-Functional Teams (MFT), analysing the industrial capability of potential Aerospace Composite Component manufacturers ensuring that the product they deliver into Airbus is delivered to the correct technical standard, on time and within the budget constraints. This is carried out during the call for tender process and also during Industrial Transfers of Work to both legacy program standards and to the latest CER/ CMR standards of composite manufacturing. As a part of my Expertise Role I resolve Technical Abnormalities with existing Composite Products manufactured globally at component suppliers, preventing urgent production disruption at Airbus Sub-Assembly Plants and Final Assembly Lines (FAL). A major achievement is to provide Concession elimination that involves implementing rigorous Process Testing and Analysis across all programs and Aircraft Type. Development work that I have instigated, at various suppliers, has returned their manufacturing capabilities back on target to Programme Milestones, empowering the Tier 1 Companies to deliver stable, conforming and value added components.

    Composites Industrialisation- F35 Jsf
    Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace Nov 2009 - May 2011
    Kongsberg, Norway
Vertical Tail Leading Edge & RudderInitial deliverable was the sole development of the KDA Composite Assemblies Manufacturing Process. This included interrogation of the Lockheed Martin (LM) Catia V5 data, Drawings and Specifications that required liaison with the on-site LM Materials and Process representative for clarification to ensure conformance.Work Instructions, Visual Aids and Shop Aids were developed and introduced to the process to carry out the correct in jig build sequence that enabled compliant manufacture of the Bonded Assembly. Part of the role involved component manufacture to prove the developed process hands-on at the shop floor, training newly recruited operators for the Initial build stages. The drive in LRIP 3 was Continuous Improvement. As part of the CI drive a major advancement was the reduction in the Work Sign-off process through put time by developing video footage of the improved process steps and incorporating them into the digital work instructions for electronic sign off in SAP ME at the immediate place of work.
