From 2022 to early 2024 I was MBIE's data governance lead - I designed and tested our Enterprise Data Governance policy and saw it approved by our Chief Executive; led our early implementation and training of the policy, and provided data governance advice and support to a wide range of projects and business teams. This data governance approach has proved successful at MBIE, and has begun to unwind a range of entrenched issues related to data quality and technical debt.Also at MBIE, I helped create our 2020 Data Strategy and Roadmap, coordinated a data & insights internship and graduate programme (Analytics and Research in Data), and supported the development of the government Data Investment Plan (led by Stats NZ).
