I am responsible for supporting and maintaining HP NonStop S, NS and NB Blade Systems at various customer sites.During my time at TCM I have also been trained and become involved with the system management of the HP NonStop OS. This has greatly increased my knowledge and given me a very good understanding of how the software and hardware integrates within HP NonStop systems. I am very keen to extend my knowledge and continue working within the NonStop arena.

I returned to a computer maintenance role after a short career break to work as a Field Service Engineer for BT Engage IT. This was a temporary position which became permanent and involved responding to various customers faults.I was repairing Laptops, Desktops, Printers, Servers , Network faults and Software builds. Although this position involved server repairs in Data Centres it was mainly customer focused on their individual IT equipment.When TCM approached me with an opportunity to work on NonStop Systems again I decided to take it and continue with my NonStop career.

Compaq was taken over by HP and I continued installing and maintaining NonStop systems as well as Data centre servers and Enterprise disk and tape Storage products. In November 2009 HP tupe'd all of its engineers into its subsidiary company HPCDS and continued making cut backs and redundancies. I decided to volunteer for redundancy and look for new opportunities.

I was trained on and maintained the Proliant range of Industry Standard Servers as well as the complete range of Digital equipment. Compaq also brought a company called Tandem which became NonStop. When an opportunity arose to train on NonStop systems I applied and was chosen for this. This involved extensive training across the complete NonStop product range. Starting with K systems then S systems, NS systems and NB blade systems. I was now primarily a NonStop Engineer but also utilised for the previous systems when required.

I maintained, installed and repaired all different types of large Printers and progressed to Tape drives, Disk drives, Microvaxes, large Vax's and Vax clusters and then Alpha systems. This involved extensive product training courses and travel to customers sites.Digital was then taken over by Compaq where I continued with my career.

I left school and started as a Trainee Technician Apprentice. This involved 3 years practical training including internal training courses as well as external college attendance. After the 3 years I obtained an ONC in Engineering and completed my apprentiship to become a Technician 2A.I worked in a Strowger Telephone Exchange doing exchange maintenance for a further 4 years before leaving to accept a new position as a Computer Field Service engineer.
