Management of in-house Civils, Electrical, Mechanical and Stores departments issuing works on Port infrastructure including quayside structures, roads/drainage, building maintenance including sheds/warehouses, terminal lighting, minor and major electrical repairs/upgrades and plant servicing and repairs. Project Management of sub contractors ensuring works are carried out in a timely manner, issuing Permit to works, carryout site inductions and prioritise work to meet the needs of the Port. Procurement of new and used plant and machinery ranging from 2T to 50T forklifts, Reachstackers for container works, Liebherr mobile harbour cranes, Volvo Loading shovels, Terburg Tractor Units and haulage wagons all ranging from £10k to over £1m in value. Compile financial reports for Directors and update senior management on maintenance repairs, plant breakdowns and procurement strategies/requirements. Manage all HR issues for departmental staff, ensuring training matrix is up to date and conduct disciplinaries as required in line with company policies and procedures. Conduct annual condition surveys on all river structures, ensuring all necessary repair works are prioritised and completed. Rail track inspection and crossing maintenance repairs. Site Management of clients ship unloading facility terminal annual budget up to £1 million for revenue and capital expenditure. Project managing all aspects of work ensuring all Health & Safety, risk assessments, method statements are in place before issuing permits to work (confined space PTW, Isolations High Voltage PTW and general PTW), project analysis and reporting back to client . Agreeing variation orders and ensuring all works are agreed and invoiced in a timely manner.

Project managed and design of a £5 million sustainable transport schemes including project cost performance and compliance with corporate quality management systems. Risk analysis and development review of procedures and schedules. River embankment stabilisation project design. Managed surfacing works on principal and non principal roads up to 0.5 million individual value and also managed inhouse civils gangs over multiple projects. Played a major role in the implementation of the new roads and streetworks act 1991 (NRSWA) for northumberland county council which took over from the old PUSWA reinstatement system. I also agreed and issued private way leave agreements and issued scaffolding licences. The remainder of my duties was taken up with invoicing public utility companies and writing letters to the public on various topics relating to Highways.
