The AttentivU project develops devices to monitor brain activity related to attention and concentration. These devices are worn outside of laboratory settings, providing data about real-world behavior.Reimagined wearable embedded EEG data capture platform to collect and transmit neural activity via BLE to smartphone app. Performed circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout. Low-noise design for ADC acquisition. Power management for on-board IMU. Design validation, bring-up of Li-PO battery management.

Zephyr Oxygen is a social enterprise aiming to improve access to oxygen. Zephyr does design & engineering of oxygen concentration systems, making that knowledge available to teams in circumstances of great need. These teams fabricate systems, providing them to clinics and others to save lives and improve quality of life.Bring-up, debugging, and validation of initial prototype hardware for distributed IoT telemetry system allowing engineers to interact with remotely located prototype hardware. Wrote low-level drivers for onboard peripherals interfacing ADCs and sensors via SPI, I2C, and CAN.Implemented issue tracking, CI/CD policy, and infrastructure to coordinate work across interconnected codebases and multiple programming languages. Collaborated with globally distributed team members to develop component-level project plans. Integrated these into overall project milestones.Designed software architecture based on customer requirements and led implementation effort. This distributed system uses MQTT & Protocol Buffers to move sensor data from collector to real-time user display.

TheVentilatorProject.org is a 200+ person 501c3 effort focused on developing and deploying medical devices in service of needs created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The project received FDA Emergency Use Authorization for its ventilator and was the recipient of the Autodesk “Making a Better World” excellence award.Managed Emergency-Ventilator embedded software team of seven geographically distributed engineers. Set technical direction for ventilator firmware, balancing immediate prototyping demands with long-term product strategy. Established quality standards by enforcing strict code review process. Interviewed and approved hiring of engineering team members.Created and architected closed-loop breathing algorithms regulating flow, pressure, and oxygen mixing, integrating requirements from consulting respiratory therapists. Adjusted technical direction as new requirements emerged given the urgency of the effort.
