As a professional researcher and consultant in the ESG space, I primarily serve at the nexus of law, business and development.The first half of my career I served as an international development practitioner, mainly covering Africa (DRC, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, and Nigeria). Over the past decade, my work has centered around researching corporate compliance with ESG laws, as well as their impact on sustainability outcomes. Research on corporate Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) performance has included conflict minerals (Dodd-Frank Section 1502), modern slavery (California TISC and UK MSA), non-financial reporting (EU NFRD studies on Sweden, Germany and Austria), as well as corporate duty of care (French Devoir de Vigilance).As a subject matter expert on social protection, I also research -- and advise policy makers -- on the topics of child labour and conflict minerals. Private sector organisations I have worked with include Vodafone, Barry Callebaut, iPoint, Assent Compliance, and CCLA. Public sector clients have included OECD, USDOL, USAID, CDC, UNICEF, and The Greens/EFA. NGO clients have included the SBTi, Fairtrade International, Rainforest Alliance, Solidaridad, and Electronics Watch.
