About Chris Nance

"Engineer's brain"When presented with a problem, my brain immediately works to find solutions. As every good engineer knows, you want to create the best solution, which will take the least amount of time, in the simplest manner possible. In my field, that means clear, concise coding! If I can get the same outcome with a fraction of the code, it will increase maintainability and increase understanding of the code, which is a key aspect of making sure things are secure. My passion is information security. The only way to truly keep information secure is to cast the computer in concrete, but we live in a world of realities where we need to use our data, so the next best way is to build your systems with a security first mindset.I enjoy getting the tasks deemed impossible. For example, a client needed Kerberos authentication to work on a cloud platform. Cloud platforms weren't designed to include this credential, but that is what was needed so I made it happen.Life-long learning is embedded in my system. Failures need to be some of the best learning tools we have. I delight in conversing with and learning from new people, getting difficult projects that stretch my knowledge base, and mentoring other engineers. Mark Rober said it best when he stated, “Collaboration and teamwork are essential for success.”
