Creative Director

Dynamic Groove

Educating people on how to stay well as opposed to knowing where to go when things are not going as well as they could be, is the core focus of the work of Dynamic Groove. We take an innovative approach, capturing the attention of our audience using our skill and passion to first engage before imparting important messages. In November 2017, Dynamic Groove was invited to a secondary school in North London to give an assembly on wellbeing to approximately 220 students in year 11, aged 15 and 16. Following a brief dance show, I shared a story of personal challenge which my colleague then translated through the Five Ways to Wellbeing to raise the audience's awareness of the model and the concept of actively developing wellbeing, stressing these steps could be taken to support one's own wellbeing and that of people close to them. Prior to the assembly, Dynamic Groove undertook an audit of in-school support in order to reference and highlight. Community support organisations around mental health, sexual health and substance misuse services were contacted and staff members attended to introduce themselves and highlight their services. Finally, with the school's sign-off, safe and appropriate online support was also referred to so that young people had a better awareness of what they could do:- for themselves- for others- in school- in the community - online - build and maintain their wellbeing- seek support when things were not going as well as they mightTo measure the impact of the assembly, Dynamic Groove ran pre and post questionnaires. Some highlight figures included:- Significant decrease in the number of young people correctly identifying two or less of the Five Ways to Wellbeing (45% post assembly compared to 88% pre assembly)- Significant increase in the number of young people correctly identifying three or more of the Five Ways to Wellbeing (55% post assembly compared to 12% pre assembly)See the full report for further details.
