- Calculated beam deflection and shear stress on tools used throughout the steel forging process then designed each structure or tool in AutoCAD and Inventor for fabrication by domestic vendors- Created general arrangements for a new machines used throughout the sawing, rough milling, and finishing of steel parts the created new floor layouts for the machines to be installed, taking in to account flow of operation and surrounding machine capabilities

Although I am still very interested in studying mechanical engineering and pursuing facets within my major, I took the chance to be a legal intern this past summer to broaden my knowledge base as to the importance of intellectual properties both in the corporate world and when conducting research. This allowed me to gain a more general image of engineering and the importance it holds in a companies growth. Some projects that added to this image include:- Developed a framework for the corporations Intellectual Property portfolio- Introduced a new Invention Disclosure Form to R&D for capturing of intellectual properties throughout the research process- Conducted outside firm patent review, looking for patent activities from competitors in new industry spaces- Utilized an outside attorney for review of a competitor's patent to file a Third Party Submission against existing patent applications- Evaluated company agreements and contracts for mutuality and noted red flags

- Designed and integrated No-Touch Tools for machine operator safety- Designed and retrofitted saw blade guards to prevent operator injury- Created safety policies and procedures, aiding in the company's Voluntary Personal Protection (VPP) certification - Monitored speeds and feeds of saw blades to increase blade life
