• Manage complex multi-site clinical research projects focused on prostate cancer genetics• Oversee progress towards project goals through collaborative working relationships with partners at other institutions• Liaise with Department of Defense (DoD) scientific and program officers• Ensure proper review and approval of human subjects research both institutionally and through DoD agency (HRPO)• Work with office of research contracts to manage portfolio of MTA/DTAs• Perform variant analysis of whole exome sequencing of germline DNA from subjects• Generate and submit progress reports in accordance with DoD funding guidelines• Develop and update research data management plans for multiple projects• Transfer laboratory including legacy data, sample repository, and equipment from University of Utah and set up laboratory and projects at Duke complete with safety and regulatory approvals.

Regional Biocontainment Laboratory - Virology Unit. We provide fee-for-service Virology services for Duke and entire research community. We can provide SOP driven virologic assays, support, and development with viruses up to enhanced BSL3 and aerobiology capabilities. • Perform assays in vivo and in vitro with human and mouse-adapted Influenza viruses, poxviruses, recombinant vesicular stomatitis viruses, and flaviviruses (West Nile virus, dengue virus, Zika virus)• Develop and author assay SOPs to provide reproducible and consistent results for clinical and research projects• Act as lead aerobiologist for the Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL) and conducted aerosol challenges with Yersinia pestis (plague), M. tuberculosis, and drug resistant M. tuberculosis• Manage, train, and mentor laboratory personnel on technical procedures and provide them with an understanding of immunology, virology, and research goals• Build Microsoft Access databases for tracking of employee training, consumables, spending, and employee hours on multiple projects• Assist in development of ferret influenza infection model for Biosafety Level (BSL) 2 influenza viruses at the Duke RBL with BSL3 model in development with facility manager• Purchase large equipment for laboratory and ensure allocation of laboratory equipment and supplies to proper funding source• Budget for long-term studies and grant applications and work closely with vendors to negotiate pricing and reduce costs• Act as Laboratory Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Safety Officer by developing and managing safety operating procedures and protocols and liaised with university safety entities and auditors• Serve as a member of the departmental safety committee• Obtained and maintain clearance and training to work with USDA and CDC Tier 1 select agents in a BSL-3 environment• Assisted in development of Risk Group 3 Influenza work practices in the RBL with site inspection and approval by CDC and USDA/APHIS
