As an IT Clerk I have learned more about inventory management, professional service to clients and working in an office setting. Being around others who are more organized than I am has led to my organizational skills being a lot better than they were. Something new that I learned was ticketing software and tier one IT support. I’ve taken what I’ve learned on my own and from others in the past to be good at IT Operations. I’ve learned a lot from working as a team in the IT department and it has led to me being a leader among them. I wrote service tickets and helped run the ticket management system for our department and performed strong communication and technical skills. We successfully provided support for over 2,000 people in the field with technical support and device management.I was promoted in September due to staffing changes and due to the fact that my manager had wanted to promoted me to that level for some time. The official title given to me was an IT Office Operations Supervisor, my focus was handling technical issues that my team could not fix themselves. I coached others through how to use the systems and programs needed for the job. We supported over 2,000 enumerators in the field and had to be creative and flexible to help complete the 2020 Census during a pandemic. We used a number of new to us systems such as Citrix, Remedy, Workspace One and ITMS. Even though we had no experience helping in the census IT department before this we were able to inventory track and return all devices without losing any. Our Area Census Office in Tyler covers 33 counties in Texas and we oversaw all the main field operations of the Census in a supporting role.

This was for the Address Canvasing (ADCAN) operation of the 2020 Census. This was a temporary job with the Census Bureau, I worked for the Address Canvassing operation for about 8 weeks. It involved online training and in class training then was issued a laptop for field work. This work was talking to people about living quarters and their address to verify it or if no one was home to do the work by sight.
