Unfortunately, I sustained an injury before pre season, and was released. When I recovered, I ended up signing with Austin for the inaugural season. It felt a bit serendipitous to finally make my way into the NOLA Camp. I signed a reserve contract with NOLA for the 2023 season. Midwest Thunderbirds Player-Coach

Current

Founded in 1964, the Midwest Rugby Football Union (MWRFU) is a Territorial Union (TU) made up of eight (8) Local Area Unions (LAUs): Allegheny Rugby Union, Chicago Area Rugby Football Union, Indiana Rugby Football Union, Iowa Rugby Union, Michigan Rugby Football Union, Minnesota Rugby Football Union, Ohio Rugby Union, and Wisconsin Rugby Football Union. The MWRFU administrates senior club rugby played in the Midwestern United States.---The Thunderbirds are a regional select side comprised of the best players in the Midwest. Before we had professional rugby in the USA, the way to get noticed by our national team selectors was to play for a regional select side. After professionalism came to fruition, there was a lull in regional select competition. Fortunately, the Midwest Thunderbirds had a resurgence in 2021. I have captained the side several times and act as a player-coach, when I'm not on professional duty. I think these types of teams and competitions are crucial to rugby's sustained growth in their regions and I am very proud to be involved with the Thunderbirds program.

Professional Rugby Player

The American Raptors compete in Super Rugby Americas, an international professional competition, as the league's only North American club. They were formerly a part of the USA's domestic professional league, Major League Rugby. The other teams in SRA hail from Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay and Argentina (2). The Raptors have worked hard to move rugby forward in the United States since the club was formed in 2007.---I love rugby, and it's always been my goal to compete at the highest level possible. Naturally, I was very interested in Super Rugby Americas. It's clear that SRA was an integral part of Chile & Uruguay's ascent, which lead to them both qualifying for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Due to the part time nature of my MLR contract, I was able to sign an additional reserve contract with the Raptors. I was able to live and work in Columbus, and fly in for multiple games in Colorado & South America.

We partner with the best brands and people to deliver experiences that create inspiration at the point of engagement. ---I've always had the experiential marketing bug. I love bringing people together and creating enjoyable experiences that foster interaction and engagement. I held multiple internships focused on this industry and always planned to find my way back to it. Over the years, I kept my foot in the door by working part time as a Brand Ambassador/ Promotional Specialist. When I decided to step back from full time professional rugby, I new it was the right time to make the jump. I accepted a Field Activation Manager role with Team, representing BioSteel. BioSteel is a rapidly expanding company focused on healthy sports hydration. I came onboard to help launch their ready to drink product in the USA. I oversaw the experiential marketing and merchandising effort in Ohio, and had tremendous success. Along with my fantastic sales team, I helped Ohio become the top market in the USA. BioSteel offered me an internal Marketing Manager role, but I decided to stay on the agency side of the business and accepted a promotion to Corporate Event Producer with Team.

Professional Rugby Player

Established in 2017, San Diego Legion is part of Major League Rugby (MLR), comprising 12 professional teams in North America. One of the MLR founding teams, SD Legion will be entering its fourth season.San Diego Legion Rugby – Just like all the sports you know, only better. Our Mission: To make the culture and sport of rugby accessible to the local community, while also providing a conduit for education, inspiration, and leadership through rugby.---Quarantine was the best thing that could have happened to my rugby career. The truncation of 2020 MLR season gave me the necessary time to recover from an ankle injury that had plagued me for 3 years. Initially, I had planned to take off all of the 2021 season, to fully recover, and spend more time with my wife. Then I got an offer I couldn't refuse. San Diego allowed me the opportunity to sign a reserve contract, live in Columbus full time, and fly in when they needed coverage. This was the perfect fit for me. I could continue growing my marketing career, while spending quality time with my wife, and still get opportunities to compete at the highest level. I stayed on with San Diego for the 2021 season. While I didn't get any match time in those 2 season, I was made to feel like a full member of the organization. I came in for pre seasons and was rostered more than a half dozen times. I am a 'team player' in the deepest sense. I was happy to support my teammates and play a small role in their success. I moved on from San Diego to pursue clubs closer to home.

I couldn't have selected a better organization than Randstad. Randstad is a people focused company, and if you produce, they will find a way to keep you involved. Randstad was always very supportive of the pursuit of my rugby dreams. After less than a year working as an Account Executive with Randstad Professionals, I signed a contract to play rugby in New Zealand. There happened to be a Randstad office not far from my team and I was able to continue my career with Randstad NZ as a Sales Consultant. When the MLR launched and I returned to the states, I accepted a full deck (recruiting and sales) role with Randstad Office & Administrative. Professional Rugby Player

Austin, Texas Area

The Austin Gilgronis (formerly Austin Elite) are a professional rugby union team, based in Austin, Texas. The team was founded in 2017 and is one of the founding members of Major League Rugby. In 2020, the organization was purchased by a new ownership group, including F45 Co-founder Adam Gilchrist. "The “Gilgronis” are named after a new Texas-sized cocktail, to be released soon."Rugby is the fastest growing sport in the United States and one of the most popular sports in the world. Rugby’s domestic growth and wide-reaching global fan base combine to create a unique environment for a professional league in the American market. The US rugby story is uniquely American from how the game spread from the Northeast across the frontier regions to the west Coast, to an underdog Olympic title, to being championed by thousands of local men's, women's and youth clubs across the country today. Major League Rugby will build on the US rugby story by uniting these fans under a common banner as rugby enters the American sports mainstream.---I started every match and played almost every minute of the inaugural MLR season. When healthy, I was also a consistent starter in the 2019 & 2020 seasons. Unfortunately, I suffered from a persistent injury throughout my time in Austin. I underwent 3 reconstructive ankle surgeries over the course of those 3 seasons. This struggle taught me a valuable lesson about not rushing recovery. Despite these physical setbacks, I notched 19 total appearances for Austin. I was named to the MLR team of the week at both hooker & loosehead prop. I acted as vice captain during the pre season of the 2020 season, and I scored the first try for the Gilgronis, when the team was rebranded as such. I will always be thankful for my time in Austin. The organization, players and fans hold a special place in my heart.

Featuring an outdoor patio, tequila bar, whiskey bar, sports bar and dance club – a different area awaits for whatever mood may strike you!---As I was offered more opportunities to travel and play rugby at a high level, I decided that a less traditional work schedule would suit my situation best. I started bartending at Cantina and quickly transitioned into a bar management role. This entailed supervising the bar staff (up to 20+ people) during assigned shifts. I ensured that all closing duties were performed, and managed register receipt counts and bank deposits. I also assisted with ordering, inventory, and training new staff. I maintained a deep understanding of the menu and selection, and helped orchestrate social functions: tasting events, private parties, business meetings, etc. I also addressed complaints and solved problems with both staff and customers.

American Bank also had a robust, nation-wide network of Retail Mortgage Branches which provided low rate mortgages to qualified borrowers. American Bank merged into Congressional Bank in 2015.---My first job, after graduating from Ohio University, was as a mortgage banker in the Columbus office of American Bank. I was consistently in the top 3 for transferring calls and was the 2nd person in my training class moved into a full time mortgage banker role. I performed analysis of customers credit and financial data, and collected supporting documentation. I managed the entire application and refinance loan process. Six months into my time at American Bank, they launched a purchase loan division. I was one of 5 people selected to the initial purchase team. I developed business through cold-calling, relationships with realtors, and customer referrals. I enjoyed the challenge of this new venture, but I made the decision to leave American Bank in order to pursue my rugby career.

"It’s that time of the day again. Time to kick back, relax, and have a nice cold one. If all this relaxing leaves you hungry, we’ve been told our handcrafted pizza is pretty damn good."---Courtside is a staple of the Athens community and a favorite of Ohio University students. While attending OU, I worked my way up from security, to bar back, bartender, and shift manager. I was responsible for bartending and overseeing all closing duties during my assigned shifts. We’re still owned by policyholders, but we protect a lot more than just autos owned by Ohio farmers. We’re a Fortune 100 company that offers a full range of insurance and financial services across the country, including car, motorcycle, boat, homeowners, pet, farm, life and commercial insurance, as well as administrative services, annuities, mortgages, mutual funds, pensions, long-term savings plans and specialty health services."---My internship was focused on experiential marketing and capturing leads for agents. I developed "centers of influence" by partnering with local businesses and planning promotional events. This ranged from pool parties at apartment complexes, to presentations at local driving schools. We also activated community events like "Pride Week" and "Comfest". I used these events to grow our brand, utilize marketing materials, and collect leads. I also got an inside look at the day to day operations of an insurance agent at Nationwide.

Aiken, South Carolina

"The Southwestern Advantage mission is to help young people develop the skills and character they need to reach their goals. Our early learning, homework help, and college prep resources help millions of kids get better grades, save time, and feel excited about school. These products are marketed by college students and recent graduates building their own businesses and gaining the tools they need for success in life."---Both of my parents have worked in sales my entire life. My fathers told me that if I could succeed in door-to-door sales, then I could succeed in any sales environment. Southwestern recruits college students to sell educational books, software, and website subscriptions door-to-door. I was assigned to Aiken, South Carolina and was part of a 20 student team. Our first task was to find a place to live for the summer. By going door-to-door I found host families for myself and 3 other students. I then proceeded to sell the most product of any student on my team.
