I am a Freelance Artist, Illustrator, Cartoonist, Sculptor and Animator. Currently living in Canberra I work predominantly in the fields of Imaginative/Fictional art, producing mainly “Fantasy/sci-fi and purely Imaginative work, favoring a caricatured yet detailed approach to my work. My main interest outside my commissioned work is in the invention and visual creation of imagined worlds and their inhabitants. For as long as I can remember I have used drawing to bring to life the characters, worlds, and events from my imagination. Drawing is still my primary method for exploring these Imagined worlds, which I realize through the illustration of Narratives and One Off scenes, loaded with small details and characters. However there has always been a strong sculptural element to my practice (mostly crafting figurines and puppets of previously drawn characters and their environments) and in more recent years an increasing exploration of animation both 2D and stop motion.Drawing inspiration from varied sources, ranging from Bosch and Bruegel to medieval Japanese Panoramas, Comic illustration, figurine sculpting/scale modeling and film, I have always enjoyed working to create intriguing, dynamically composed imagery. Putting my varied skills to use in a constant effort to bring life, atmosphere and often a bit of humor to my creations as well as to anything I have been commissioned to produce. Although primarily a “Fantasy” artist I regularly work on other varied projects, having some experience with Children’s and Historical illustration, caricature/cartooning/portraiture, Printmaking and animation (stop motion and 2D)
