Innovation – a word almost everyone has heard before, but most people struggle with how to do it or do it well. I work with companies to understand how to use innovation to move them forward towards their goals. I am a firm believer that Invention is a technical process, but Innovation is a business process and therefore requires rigor, repetition, risk, and reward. There is always a better and simpler way to do most everything and for those opportunities that are challenging, difficult and seem impossible the reward is great! I get great joy from holding the flashlight as we walk the innovation path to light the way and be the first to trip in a hole if one appears. The years of experience I have gained come a little from school and a lot from real world experiences. Invention doesn’t get taught in schools; it is learned by recognizing a better solution to the opportunity at hand. Innovation is the process of persistence and commercialization. There are a lot of great ideas but if nothing comes of them what is their value?I develop and motivate teams to innovate. I am a visual communicator and a test and repeat learner. In other words, I am a thinker and a doer. I would rather know I know than think I know.
