About Chris Wells

As President / Executive Director of the Piscataquog Land Conservancy (PLC), Chris is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the organization, and plays an active part in PLC’s conservation project selection, structure and funding strategy. From 2002 to 2014 Chris was on the staff of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, where he helped establish and defend dedicated funding for the state's Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP), secured millions of public and private dollars for the Forest Society's land conservation projects, and led regional-scale conservation partnerships in New Hampshire's western highlands and Merrimack River watershed. From 1995 to 2002 Chris worked at the Trust for Public Land (TPL) in the Mid-Atlantic states, where he managed state and local ballot campaigns that generated hundreds of millions of dollars in new public funding for land conservation. Chris holds a BA in history from Wesleyan University and a Masters of Urban Planning from the City University of New York.
