Lead Finance projects to improve financial reporting and accounting practices. Support other Finance Department managers in their day to day work. Participate in and provide financial expertise to special projects related to other Business Unit initiatives. During my career I have gained strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of the oil industry. This has assisted me in providing the Business Units with informed, efficient processes to ensure not only comprehensive financial measurement of performance, but also accurate information and results. Examples of this include: •Assisting business units in accruing expenses to ensure operational performance is measured accurately with all the relevant information on hand. • In conjunction with Payroll designing and working on providing accurate and timely information to Cost Centre Managers with regards to accruals for outstanding leave as well as providing comprehensive breakdowns by employee and remuneration type of personnel costs and expenses. Supervision of 8 general accounting staff in Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, Banking, Payroll, Fixed Assets and Insurance. Subject Matter Expert for SAP financials. As Manager of CNZL General Accounting I supervised the Accounts Payable. Payroll, Banking, Insurance and Financial Accounting functions. In the Financial Accounting function I maintained the General Ledger for CNZL including the STandardised Account Reconciliations process. I also gained valuable experience in leading teams in implementing and designing new services e,g, IFCS Starcard, STAR, Starcash, Travel & Expense online Accounting System. I personally designed the Areas of Responsibility reporting tool that was instrumental in the implementation of Standardised Accounting Reconciliations. This ensured that all 7 principles of STAR were completed on time and in full. I was directly involved in the design and maintenance of several keys SOX controls in Risk control Tracking System relating to Procurement through Payables, Payroll & Employee Benefits, Ledger Maintenance, Financial Reporting and Risk Management. In this role I faced some significant challenges with increasing workloads and new processes while having resources seriously reduced. Over 3 years my area had taken on considerable additional responsibilties (including TEA administation, SOX controls, STAR inplementation & administration) while cutting our operational expenditure by almost 50%. This was achieved without compromising the service to our core customers, i.e Caltex/Chevron Business Unit.During my time in this role I had a number of interfaces with Retail e.g as Finance representative working on the Retail Entrepreneurial Program.
