**FAMILY GEEK TURNED PROFESSIONAL**I remember the days when everyone would hand me the box with a new VCR inside and say "here Chris, you figure it out." Sure enough, the VCR got hooked up and you can likely bet I was entertaining someone while I was at it. Fast forward several decades and after all this time, I'm still tinkering with gadgets of some type and I'm still working on my entertaining skills! It's truly been a fantastic voyage becoming a top-level engineer for Veritas Technologies LLC.I've administered hundreds of UNIX servers and I've worked on thousands of servers to ensure their data was safe and the ability to restore from failure or disaster was always a possibility. I've run cables under a raised floor and I've nearly froze troubleshooting network issues standing on that same raised floor. I've wrote shell scripts and Perl programs late into the night and I've delivered web presentations to large audiences. I've been in a leadership role on all technical teams I've been on for over the past two decades. I've accomplished a lot and I've received many accolades, certifications and job bonuses to bear witness to my efforts.Today, I help customers proactively manage their data with Veritas Data Management products, leading to much more time to invest in other critical projects as well as saving hundreds of thousands of dollars by operating most efficiently and ensuring critical data is safe and recoverable.
