With over 30 years of work experience in international relations, politics, strategy and transformation, I am a passionate and driven executive at Hakluyt & Company, a global strategic advisory firm. In this role, I was responsible for overseeing and reforming the immigration and refugee system, including by launching Express Entry; promoting multiculturalism, diversity, refugee resettlement and a renewal of Canada's Citizenship Act: and strengthening Canada's global reputation as a welcoming and inclusive country. I was an MP (2011-15), Canada's parliamentary secretary for national defence (2011-13) and a Canadian and UN diplomat for eighteen years, serving as deputy special representative of the UN Secretary General (2005-09); ambassador to Afghanistan (2003-05); and minister-counsellor (political) and deputy head of mission at the Canadian embassy in Moscow (2000-03).
