Was heavily involved in a number of CCS policy and regulatory issues including pore space management, closure and long-term liability, financial assurance and security, pipeline open access, stakeholder consultation and engagement, surface access, regulatory processes, and CO2 enhanced oil recovery.Led the CCS Regulatory Framework Assessment's (RFA's) Regulatory Working Group. This working group was the largest of the RFA's four working groups and accounted for 54 of the RFA's 80 recommendations and conclusions.Coordinated development of three-year plan and individual project plans for implementation of the RFA's 71 recommendations. Identified potential issues and sensitivities that could arise from implementation of recommendations, and developed mitigation plans to address those issues.Contributed to development of detailed public consultation materials for the RFA.Represented Alberta Energy on the subgroup of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission's Phase III Carbon Geologic Storage (CGS) Task Force. The focus of Phase III is on the management of liability for CGS projects.Represented Alberta Energy at Clean Energy Dialogue CCS Working Group meetings in Mobile, Regina and Champaign, presenting on various aspects of Alberta's CCS program including monitoring requirements, permitting of CCS projects, post-injection regulation, and knowledge sharing.Led a cross-ministry Government of Alberta committee examining the accounting and reporting requirements for Alberta's CCS Post-closure Stewardship Fund.Led the Government of Alberta's CCS Cross-Ministry Working Group, an initiative to facilitate sharing of CCS-related experience, issues and news amongst Government of Alberta ministries, the Alberta Geological Survey and Alberta Innovates.
