After joining GSI in 2008, I managed or supported multiple projects in Oregon and Washington including artificial recharge (AR) feasibility and testing, aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) feasibility and testing, supply well and monitoring well installation, water well rehabilitation, well condition assessment and groundwater asset management, Ranney collector well development, municipal and industrial water supply development, treatment wetland feasibility, bioremediation, geochemistry and permit compliance for Subtitle C and D landfills in Oregon.Some of my representative projects include: Umatilla Basin Aquifer Recovery Project – Evaluated ASR options in the deep basalt aquifer as well as pilot testing of regional scale AR in the supra-basalt sediments in the Umatilla Basin. The project would provide an additional 10,000 to 50,000 acre feet of groundwater resources to the agricultural stakeholders in the Umatilla Basin. Boise White Paper Thermal ASR – Assessed the feasibility of storing cold water in the CRBG basalt aquifer system underlying Boise’s Wallula Paper Mill in Washington. The basis for the project was the ability to store cold Columbia River water into the basalt aquifer system during cold winter and spring months, and recover water from the aquifer system during warm summer months, when the water would be used for cooling activities at the Mill and also add additional flow to the Columbia River during seasonal low flows. This project was the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. Annual Reporting of AR and ASR Testing – Managed or supported ASR (City of Tualatin, City of Pendleton) and AR (Walla Walla Basin Watershed Council, Umatilla Basin Water Commission) annual reporting required as conditions of testing under limited license in Oregon.I have also presented improved approaches to well rehabilitation and improvements in groundwater asset management at regional conferences in the Pacific Northwest.

Prior to joining GSI in 2008, I took advantage of the opportunities afforded by a large company like CH2M HILL to develop a broad background and strong technical foundation in artificial recharge, aquifer storage and recovery, well hydraulics, geophysics, RCRA and CERCLA compliance, remedial investigations, bioremediation, geochemistry and groundwater microbiology working on projects in Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Hawaii and Japan.
